About Japanese Martial Arts Academy
We've been dedicated to changing lives for 50 years.
More Than Martial Arts
Since we’ve opened, we’ve been dedicated to changing the lives of people one person at a time through martial arts, education, and coaching. We strive to provide a safe, comfortable, and welcoming atmosphere for all students and family members. We take pride in creating an environment for individuals to achieve, develop, and succeed in their personal goals.
JMAA is led by Master Sensei Jerry Cichon, who has dedicated more than five decades to the study and teaching of martial arts. His training began in 1974 under GM Ted Soliday in Sapulpa, Oklahoma. He later continued his studies in Nashville, Tennessee, under Soke Dale S. Kirby, where he trained in Wado-ryu Karate, Satori-ryu Iaido, and Daito-ryu Aiki-jujutsu.
Sensei Cichon holds an 8th-degree black belt in Japanese Goju-ryu and 5th-degree black belts in both Satori-ryu Iaido and Aiki-jujutsu. He is also a registered member of the Japan Budo International Federation.
Several of Sensei Cichon’s black belts serve as instructors within the dojo, including Senior Instructors Mike Moore, David Barrows, and Daniel and Mike Gookin.
