📣 This Week at the Dojo
We begin our study of Bunkai (分解)—literally meaning “analysis” or “disassembly.” In Japanese martial arts, bunkai refers to the process of breaking down kata to uncover the practical fighting techniques hidden within. These applied techniques are known as Oyo.
🗓️ Schedule:
- Saturdays: Beginners will work on bunkai for Taikyoku kata’s, while advanced students will focus on Geikasai Dai Ichi.
- Tuesdays & Thursdays: We’ll continue exploring one kata at a time, extracting techniques that deepen our understanding and strengthen our self-defense practice.
⚔️ This is hands-on knowledge—the way the Japanese masters intended self-defense techniques to be performed. Don’t miss this opportunity to bring your kata to life!
